Henry Jones Jr.!

What's happenin? Thought I'd pitch in with a fun topic; I think that everyone that contributes to this blog has seen the Indiana Jones films once or twice, and if you haven't, shame shame.

I've been thinking about this one since I saw the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: What is Indiana Jones' most badass moment on film? After seeing the newest one again recently, I think I've made a decision, although I'll admit that he's had several moments that Han Solo only wishes he can....err, nevermind.

In the latest installment of the franchise, Mutt and Indy go to Peru lookin' for a friend, oh, a crystal skull too. They're attacked by these wild human monkey warriors and things aren't lookin good for Mutt when he notices that he's about to be shot with a poison dart. And then, whap! Indiana, who's in his 60's at this point mind you, quickly jumps up and shoots the dart into the monkey warrior's mouth through the opposite end. After seeing that the 2nd time, I think I can say that's Indy's most badass moment. Sure, he's outran huge bolder's and defeated the Nazi's, but I can't think of one other instance where one of Indy's foes was owned that bad.

What are some of your thoughts and your Indy Badass Moments?

I think Indy's most badass moment is in The Last Crusade when he comes back to his office to find that there are a ton of students that would like to meet with him. He says that he'll meet with all of them, goes in his office, and bails out the window. Now that's a badass....

But in all seriousness, I don't think there is any question as to what Indy's most badass moment is. In Raiders Of The Lost Ark he finds himself face to face with an Arabian warrior with a sword. Rather than go through the frustration of battling him, Indy looks at him for a moment and then shoots him with his gun.

And here's something to ponder, Myers...If that was a poison tip dart that Indy blew back into the native's mouth, wouldn't the poison be on the opposite side that hit him in the mouth?

Indy knew how to alter the course of a poison dart once it entered the monkey warrior's mouth...It's magggggic

When i was a young lad, I always said that the scene you talked about where Indy just pulls out his pistol and caps the sword fighter was my favorite. Now, I'm not sure, it doesn't quite have the same effect on me. It almost makes me sad because that guy really was a talented swordsman.
Also I think Indy blew so hard that the poison tip dart went right down the Native's throat and poisoned his stomach.

As possibly the world's greatest fan of the The Last Crusade (my recitation of the film might even equal Halpo's mastery of Ghostbusters), I would say Indy's most badass moment happened at an early age when he escaped from the looters on the travelling circus train. He rode the train down on horseback, crawled through snakes, faced down a lion, fought a dude above a crazed rhino, and then managed to escape through the magic box in the caboose.

If we're going for most badass fight scene though, I would give it to Temple of Doom, where he fights the huge Thugee guy on the conveyor belt to the rock crushing wheel whilst the little panzy rajah stabbed the Indy voodoo doll in the back- pretty badass.

I'll tell you this much, he's in Europe and he's still discussing Iniana Jones with us. That makes him doing pretty well in my book

I don't see how you can beat the iconic shot of Indy with his sleeves torn off, holding a scimitar as the Thugees approach from both sides of the bridge, and then chopping the bridge in two.

ooh yeah, braxton, that was good! the conveyor belt scene was pretty great, too.
